ABOUT TRUCKYARD
Truckyard is a hospitality-driven food truck park and bar opening in downtown New Albany, Indiana. We're building more than a place to grab a drink and a bite — Truckyard is a community gathering space where families spend the afternoon, friends gather for drinks and live music, and every guest leaves feeling like they haven't had service this good in a long time. Our team blends casual, high-energy hospitality with genuine, attentive guest care from open to close.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Bartender is the heartbeat of Truckyard's beverage program. Guests order drinks directly from the bar, so the Bartender sets the tone for hospitality, speed, and energy across the venue — from a relaxed, family-friendly afternoon on the patio to a high-energy, bar-forward evening. Bartenders are expected to build genuine guest connections while pouring accurately, working fast, and keeping the bar clean, stocked, and running smoothly.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare and serve beer, wine, cocktails, and non-alcoholic beverages accurately, consistently, and to Truckyard's recipe and presentation standards
Greet guests warmly, acknowledge them quickly, and maintain an engaging, welcoming bar experience throughout the shift
Check identification and responsibly monitor guest alcohol consumption; intervene professionally to prevent overservice or visible intoxication
Operate the POS system accurately for orders, payments, tabs, and cash handling; balance the drawer/bank at the end of each shift
Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked bar — including garnishes, glassware, ice, and liquor/beer/wine inventory — throughout service
Coordinate with barbacks, service well bartenders, cocktail servers, and bussers to keep drink tickets moving and the floor running smoothly, especially during peak weekend volume
Read and adjust to the room — shifting from a relaxed, conversational daytime pace to a higher-energy evening atmosphere while staying controlled and approachable
Support live music, sports programming, and special events with efficient, high-volume service
Follow all Indiana alcohol service laws and Truckyard's safety, cleanliness, and responsible service policies at all times
Proactively communicate stock needs, equipment issues, or guest concerns to the Manager on Duty
Assist with opening/closing bar setup, breakdown, and end-of-night cleaning duties
