Hospitality Support — Truckyard, New Albany, Indiana

Reports To:  Manager on Duty (MOD)

Job Type:  Hourly, Non-Exempt — Part-Time & Full-Time available

Department:  Floor / Guest Experience

ABOUT TRUCKYARD

Truckyard is a hospitality-driven food truck park and bar opening in downtown New Albany, Indiana. We're building more than a place to grab a drink and a bite — Truckyard is a community gathering space where families spend the afternoon, friends gather for drinks and live music, and every guest leaves feeling like they haven't had service this good in a long time. Our team blends casual, high-energy hospitality with genuine, attentive guest care from open to close.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Busser/Runner is essential to Truckyard's hybrid hospitality model. While guests order drinks at the bar and food directly from rotating food trucks, our floor team makes sure no guest ever feels left to fend for themselves. This role keeps the venue clean, organized, and welcoming; supports bartenders and cocktail servers by running drinks and clearing tables; and proactively engages guests across the patio and indoor seating areas to reduce friction and keep the energy and flow of the venue moving.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Proactively clear, clean, and reset tables and seating areas throughout the shift to keep the venue guest-ready at all times

  • Support bartenders and cocktail servers by running drink orders to tables, especially during peak weekend and event volume

  • Maintain cleanliness of patio, indoor seating, high-tops, and common areas; remove trash and debris proactively rather than waiting to be asked

  • Monitor and restock napkins, condiments, and table essentials as needed

  • Check restrooms periodically for cleanliness and stock; flag issues to the Manager on Duty immediately

  • Acknowledge and greet guests quickly, offer help proactively, and guide first-time guests around the venue (bar location, food trucks, restrooms, seating)

  • Maintain a visible, engaged floor presence — avoid congregating with other staff and stay attuned to guest needs across assigned sections

  • Assist with setup and breakdown of tables, chairs, and furniture for daily service, live music, sports programming, and private events

  • Communicate proactively with bar and management teams about guest needs, spills, hazards, or maintenance issues

  • Support the transition from a relaxed, family-friendly daytime atmosphere to a higher-energy evening bar crowd while maintaining safety and cleanliness standards

  • Follow all safety protocols, including prompt reporting of spills, hazards, or safety concerns

QUALIFICATIONS

  • No prior experience required; previous restaurant, bar, or hospitality experience is a plus

  • Must meet Indiana's minimum age requirement for the role (this position does not require serving or handling alcohol, but ownership/HR should confirm current requirements)

  • Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and genuine enjoyment of working with people

  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

  • Comfortable working outdoors and moving quickly across a multi-vendor, high-traffic venue

  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, with availability increasing for peak Friday/Saturday shifts and special events

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Stand, walk, and move continuously for extended periods (up to a full shift) in an indoor/outdoor environment

  • Lift and carry bus tubs, trays, and furniture up to 30–40 lbs

  • Bend, reach, and maneuver around a busy, multi-vendor outdoor venue

  • Work in varying outdoor weather and noise conditions typical of a patio/bar venue

SCHEDULE & AVAILABILITY

Busser/Runner staffing scales with Truckyard's daypart model. Weekday shifts (Tuesday–Wednesday) typically run 1 Hospitality Support/Busser; Thursday and Sunday typically run 1 busser alongside a cocktail server; peak Friday/Saturday shifts run 1–2 bussers/hospitality support alongside 2 cocktail servers. Evening, weekend, and event availability is required.
